âWe make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.â
Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino ("FARSB") began in April 1980 distributing about 10,000 pounds of food per month and partnering with about 20 local non-profit agencies. Today, FARSB distributes over 2 million pounds of food per month and partners with over 250 local non-profit partners. They work persistently toward their mission of alleviating hunger in the Inland Empire.
The Orangewood staff works one-on-one with youth in four critical areas: health & wellness, housing, life skills & employment, and education. The goal is to help them identify their own strengths, attributes, and aptitudes to empower them to overcome their challenges and reach their greatest potential. They meet a broad array of needs: from groceries and a hot meal, to transitional housing, to life skills workshops and employment leads, and scholarships for college and graduate school.
Second Harvest is focused on providing the most basic of needs - nutritious food. Second Harvest provides consistent access to nutritious food to those in need in the community, specifically to the most vulnerable among them through the Child Hunger Strategy, including Permanent and Mobile School Pantries, after-school programs, College Pantries, and our Senior Grocery Program.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach. Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,500 locations across the United States, at sea and abroad. We understand we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, but our service members sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year to preserve our freedoms. In many homes, there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There is no better time to express our appreciation than during the hustle of the holiday season.
